Independence Day
Celebration at the Indian Embassy:
Upon the invitation
of the Indian Embassy in Kuwait, IMWA participated in
the 62nd Independence day of India celebrated at the
Embassy. Some of the Executive Committee members
were present at the Embassy premises. H.E. The
Ambassador, M. Ganapathi read out the message of
President of India after the flag hosting.
Patriotic songs by the children of Indian schools was
the main attraction at the grand celebration.
On the event of this 62nd Independence Day the General
Secretary, Iqbal Soofi issued a press statement wishing
hearty Independence Day to the Government of India,
Indian people, H.E. the Ambassador of Indian to Kuwait
and all the Diaspora Indians living in Kuwait.

Meeting with H.E. the Ambassador of India:
A three member delegation consisted of General Secretary
Iqbal Soofi, Joint Secretary Israr Ahmed and Treasurer
Iftakhar Ahmed met with H.E. the Ambassador of India to
Kuwait, Mr. M. Ganapathi, on Wednesday 16th July 2008 at
his Embassy office. After a brief discussion the
delegation handed over official invitation to H.E. the
Ambassador to attend IMWA's Welcome Ramadan program to
be held on 5th September, 2008. During the meeting
His Excellency recalled memories of his previous visit
to IMWA's program and also inquired about previous
Office Bearers of IMWA. |

Resolution of Condolences on demise of G.M. Banatwala:
The General Secretary, Iqbal Soofi on behalf of the
Executive Committee issued Resolution of Condolence on
26th June 2008 on the sad demise of G.M. Banatwala, an
able parliamentarian who died at 74 in Mumbai on 25th
June 2008. The resolution commended the remarkable
services of this noble statesman and offered deepest
condolences to the bereaved family and to the community
in India and abroad. |

Annual General Meeting - 13th AGM:
IMWA held its 13th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on
Friday, 23rd May 2008 at the banquet of Delhi Durbar
Classic in Salmiya, soon after the Maghrib prayers.
Mohammed Hussain Mujeebullah recited the verses from
Holy Qur'an to mark the official commencement of the
proceedings. Mir Ibrahim Ali Khan delivered the
presidential address after passing a condolatory
resolution on the demise of Kuwait's Father Amir, H.H.
Shaikh Saad Al-Abdullah Al-Salem Al-Sabah who died on
13th May 2008. The Treasurer, Iftakhar Ahmed
presented the audited financial statement. The
General Secretary of IMWA Iqbal Soofi presented annual
secretarial report highlighting major events for the
year. Israr Ahmed, Joint Secretary, performed vote
of thanks. The AGM adjourned after the dinner. |

Seerat-al-Nabi Program:
This year IMWA had also embarked on arranging a
Seerat-al-Nabi program on 28th March 2008. The event
was held at Kuwait Medical Association Auditorium and
approximately 200 people inclusive of women and children attended the lectures
on the topics of Seerah. Eminent religious scholar
Shaikh Badrul Hassan Qasimi, Shaikh Yahya, an American
revert and Shaikh Abdul Qader Omari of IPC shed light on
the life of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Na'at Khwani
was another attraction of the evening. Dinner was
served at the end of the program.
During this event awards
were given to four best performers in the Essay
Competition conducted by the Educational Cell in
connection with its Educational Trip to Agility, on 16th
February 2008. |

Educational Field Trip for the School Children:
The Educational Cell had arranged an Educational Trip
for the students of different Indian Schools, on 16th February
2008. A total of 42 boys and girls were taken to
Agility, the largest logistic facility in the Middle
East. It was a guided tour inside the most
sophisticated storage facility. 7 volunteers have
taken care of students divided into 7 groups, girls were
supervised by lady volunteer. Light refreshment
was arranged for the students by IMWA. |

Participation in FIMA Symposium:
IMWA participated in a symposium organized by FIMA
titled "What FIMA Should Do? and How?" A
three-member panel from the members of IMWA Executive
Committee was appointed to study the matter, which was
later presented by the president of IMWA at the said
symposium on 7th February 2008 at Jamiat-al-Islah
auditorium, Rawdha. IMWA is a member association
of Federation of Indian Muslim Associations (FIMA), a
coordination council of 13 Muslim Associations based in
Kuwait. |

Visit to Graveyard:
A group from IMWA Executive Committee visited
Sulaibikhat graveyard and participated in congregational
Janaza prayers on the 2nd of February 2008.
Visiting graveyard is a profound Sunnah and its
importance has been proved in authentic sayings prophet
Muhammad (pbuh). The group met at Masjid
Al-Othman, the English Sermon Mosque and started right
after Asr prayers. |

Participation in Indian Embassy Community
Gathering:
The General Secretary and Executive Committee members of
IMWA had also attended the community meeting during the
visit of Hon'ble minister E.Ahmed, Minister of State for
External Affairs. This meeting was hosted by the Indian
mission in Kuwait on Tuesday, 29th January 2008 for the
representatives of Indian community at the embassy
auditorium. |

Indian Republic Day - Embassy Event:
IMWA had joined the grand celebration of Republic Day of
India at the premises of Indian Embassy in Kuwait on
26th January 2008 on invitation from Indian Embassy.
IMWA extend heartiest greetings to the Indian
government, the people of India, H.E. the Ambassador of
India and the Indian community living in Kuwait. The President had also attended the Republic Day
celebration arranged by the Embassy of India. |

Participation in Indian Embassy Community
Gathering:
The General Secretary, Iqbal Soofi along with other
members of IMWA had participated in the community
meeting on 8th January, at the Indian Embassy in Kuwait
during the visit of H.E. Ram Vilas Paswan, the union
minister of chemicals, fertilizers and steel. |

Eid Milan for IMWA Families on Eid al-Adha:
A family get-together under the banner of Eid Milan was
held on 21st December 2007 at Raudha Gardens. IMWA
member families enjoyed the event amidst unexpected
rains and unfavorable weather. |

Award Conferral Ceremony of AHD Ramadan Competition:
Award Conferral Ceremony of Abdullah Hamza Dalvi Ramadan
Competitions was held on 7th December 2007 at the same
Al Najat Boys' School which was well attended by the
parents of most of the participants and general public.
63 boys and girls from 10 different schools were
conferred with awards for their outstanding performance
in Qur'an recitation, Elocution competition and Islamic
quiz.
Islamic skits were presented by the children of Indian
English Academy (Don Bosco) School and Jabriya Indian
School.. The Director of Da'wa Affairs of IPC
(Islam Presentation Committee, Kuwait) Shaikh Khaled
Abdullah Al-Sab'e attended the ceremony as Guest of
Honor.
During this occasion IMWA also honored the
team judges of the Ramadan Competition in recognition of
their continued support and services to IMWA in all its
Islamic endeavors. |

Eid-al-Fitr wishes:
IMWA issued special email bulletin to wish its members
and all the fellow-Muslims a very Happy Eid-Mubarak on
the occasion of Eid-al-Fitr. |

Ramadan Competition for the Students of Indian
Schools:
IMWA conducted its prestigious Abdullah Hamza Dalvi
Ramadan Competitions on Saturday, 29th September 2007 at Al Najat
Boys' School in Salmiya area. This time
some 300 children from 17 different schools have
participated in the competitions arranged separately for
boys and girls in three sessions of 10 groups.
School children from at least 5 different
countries participated in the Qur'an Recitation,
Elocution and Islamic Quiz Competition, which was considered as
one of the successful events IMWA had conducted last
year. |

Family Iftar Gathering - Welcome Ramadan:
IMWA held Welcome Ramadan program at the auditorium of
Delhi Durbar Classic Restaurant in Salmiya which was an
Iftar party for the member families of IMWA, to recall the
bounties of holy month of Ramadan. The Iftar party was
held on 21st September 2007 and was well attended by most of the member families of IMWA and
was a successful event. Shaikh Mohammed Qotob and Shaikh Abdul Qader Omari
of IPC delivered lectures explaining
the importance of the month in English and Urdu
respectively. Visiting scholar from India Dr. Syed Qasim Rasool Ilyas,
spokesperson of Muslim Personal Law Board, and Editor of
Urdu magazine Ifkar-e-Milli also gave a talk on Muslim
community's present scenario in India. |

Visit to Indian Naval Ship on the Invitation of Indian
Embassy:
In response to the invitation of Indian Embassy, the President
of IMWA, Mir Ibrahim Ali Khan led a team of 2 EC members
to visit the Indian Naval
Ships on 15th August 2007 in connection with Independence Day.
These two naval ships were on a friendly visit to Kuwait
from India. Some 16 missiles were installed on one of
the ships which
were of Nuclear capability.
The General Secretary, Iqbal Soofi, issued a press note
wishing a Happy Independence Day to all the IMWA members
and the fellow citizens living in the host country
Kuwait. |

Launch of Newsletter - The New VOICE of IMWA
The Mass Media Cell of IMWA launched an e-zine, The New VOICE of IMWA on 1st July 2007. It is a web
based electronic newsletter that reaches a large number
of recipients in the region and considered a major
landmark of the year. One of the main objectives this
newsletter is to promote the writing skills of IMWA
people. The New VOICE of IMWA generally carries
out IMWA related news, Islamic and informative articles. |

General |
Social & Welfare Activities:
Under the welfare activities IMWA has provided financial
assistance to a deserving
Indian family living in Salmiya. Fund was generated through
contributions from IMWA people to pay the school fees
for three girls and to provide them text books.
IMWA always has responded to the genuine needs of the people
using its limited resources, and this kind of activities is
an ongoing process at IMWA. |
